About Us

The Smoking Pig BBQ is authentic roadside BBQ take-out. Housed in a renovated train Caboose, we use the best of local ingredients and traditional wood fired BBQ techniques. This simple take-out has a reputation for redefining fast food or ‘slow food done fast’.


The Chef

Chef Jesse Vergen has made it his life’s passion to bring the fresh flavours of New Brunswick to the forefront of the local dining scene. He has taken that passion and applied it to real Southern BBQ while utilizing New Brunswick’s untapped bounty from small farms and fishermen, and his inventive menus at Saint John Ale House. He has been seen on the FOOD Network’s; Top Chef Canada, You Gotta Eat Here, and Michael Smith’s Village feast.
